About Indigo
About Indigo
Everything has been prewashed 2x so your item won’t bleed or stain anything when laundered. It may fade over time, but it will fade in the same way denim jeans fade after many years of wear.
Indigo dyeing is an ancient process for dyeing textiles that can be found in Japanese, Native American, and Indian cultures, among many others. Shibori, the Japanese style of resist dyeing, involves delicately folding and binding fabric before submerging it in a dye bath to create ornate patterns. All the items come out of the dye bath a bright green color and slowly oxidize to a deep blue in a matter of minutes. To create the deeper and darker blues many trips in and out of the dyebath is required. The dye molecules expand within the fibers as it oxidizes so the color becomes embedded within the fabric. The chemical process is very different than with traditional tie dyeing and is permanent.
Your item will come wrapped in tissue and tied with a satin ribbon. Everything will be shipped in either recyclable or compostable packaging. Sustainability is a priority in everything I do.
